Well…it’s an idea, but the only good place to put in a connection is where the old Molitor Jct. connection from the old M&StL to the C&NW used to be. No matter where a connection or crossovers may be, the location of a derailment could make it totally worthless, especially if it is built specifically for detours (and the expense and continuing maintenance might not be worth it). I expect UP to have the line back in service by tomorrow morning, if not sooner.

Ok that would make sense…thanks for clearing that up. I remember seeing a short Conrail train from the interstate near Leroy about 1990…I believe it had a GP38, a handful of cars and a conrail bay window caboose.

Think UP and BNSF need to build cross overs on each end of that section of line so trains can be rerouted.
