PEORIA – As expected, United Parcel Service’s decision to end Decatur flights and DHL’s decision to end Bloomington-Normal flights have dramatically increased air cargo volume at the Gen. Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport. Saturday’s Peoria Journal Star reports:

New Terminal to be built by Local Firm

PEORIA - The job to construct the new terminal building at the General Wayne A Downing Peoria International Airport will go to a local firm. According to the Peoria Journal Star, Peoria Heights-based Williams Brothers Construction put in the low bid of $23.3 million. Work may start within three months.

Northwest Airlink is expanding at Bloomington-Normal’s Central Illinois Regional Airport, the Pantagraph reports. Beginning June 4, the airline will offer a daily roundtrip between CIRA and Minneapolis/St. Paul (a hub for Delta’s subsidiary, Northwest Airlines). The service was last offered in 2003. Peoria – Atlanta Nonstops Now Twice-Daily

PEORIA – Atlantic Southeast Airlines dba Delta Connection, resumed a second daily roundtrip flight between Peoria and Atlanta today.
Flights arrive from the Georgia capital at 9:25am and 3:42pm. Those flights leave Peoria at 9:50am and 4:07pm. Note the absence of a “Remain-Over-Night” (RON) flight, which are convenient for business travelers.
