Republic Airways will operate 53 Embraer 175s in American Eagle colors as part of a new agreement with American Airlines. The airline will begin repainting two or three Embraer 175s  per month into American Eagle colors with the first entering service in June 2013.

Brazilian airframe manufacturer Embraer also announced this morning that Republic Airways Holdings will purchase 47 new Embraer 175s in a deal worth $4 billion. Republic has place options for an additional 47 of the aircraft. (NOTE: these 47 are part of the 53 aircraft Republic will operate for American Airlines.)

Could Peoria see these aircraft? Probaby not anytime soon. The Embraer 175s will be used in larger markets competitive with United Airlines/United Express out of Chicago-O’Hare. But Peoria will most certainly see larger aircraft in the near future as American Eagle converts its fleet to larger regional jets. In fact, rumors are the Republic E-jets will replace 65-seat American Eagle CRJ700′s at O’Hare so they can be deployed to Dallas/Ft. Worth.

Well it looks better on a RJ than it does on a 7-3.
    Still alittle disappointed…

It’s kimd of growing on me, but when an airline uses a paint scheme for 45 years, it is hard to let go :(
