PEORIA – Atlantic Southeast Airlines dba Delta Connection, resumed a second daily roundtrip flight between Peoria and Atlanta today.
Flights arrive from the Georgia capital at 9:25am and 3:42pm. Those flights leave Peoria at 9:50am and 4:07pm. Note the absence of a “Remain-Over-Night” (RON) flight, which are convenient for business travelers.
With the economy in a tailspin, it’s good to see the local airport gaining service. Unfortunately, passenger traffic was down 25% in January versus the same time a year ago, the Journal Star reported Friday in its print edition.
I can’t conclude without bringing attention to a related but oddly-worded paragraph in the article referenced above.
“[Director of Finance and Administration Mary] DeVries said she hoped to see a not-so-dramatic loss of passengers with the addition of a daily round-trip flight to Atlanta on Delta Airlines’ regional affiliate, Atlantic Southeast Airlines, scheduled to begin in March.”
I’m no English major, but IMHO this would sound better if it said:
“[Director of Finance and Administration Mary] DeVries said she hoped the addition of a daily round-trip flight to Atlanta on Delta Airlines’ regional affiliate, Atlantic Southeast Airlines, scheduled to begin in March, would help stem the dramatic loss of passengers.”
