Allegiant Air has picked Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) rather than one of the area’s multiple satellite airports as its newest destination city. Peoria is not among the initial dozen points to be served from Los Angeles, but if service proves successful, it could benefit from subsequent expansion.
The airliner enthusiast community had speculated that San Bernardino International Airport, located to the east, would be tapped as Allegiant’s newest destination city. Apparently, the airline believed LAX a better location at which to bring passengers into the LA Basin.

WOW! I am a little surprised by this, as I thought that Allegiant was for mid-sized airports. This is a whole new level for them! I hope PIA can benefit from this! If they do my Wife and I will be sure to use this service!

It looked like San Bernardino had it in the bag, but I guess LAX makes sense. Peoria had LAX service (via Kansas City) in 1977-1981 with Continental Airlines and in 1999 with AccessAir (via Des Moines and/or Colorado Springs).
