PEORIA – The Rockford Register Star is reporting that Allegiant Air is planning to announce a new destination city or flight expansion in 2009. The company was profitable in 2008 and wants growth to continue.
Currently, Allegiant Air links the Gen. Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport with Las Vegas on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, with Phoenix-Mesa on Mondays and Fridays and with St. Petersburg/Clearwater on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Flights to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando-Sanford were suspended in 2008.
Possible expansion for Peoria would include restoration of a fifth (Wednesday?), and perhaps sixth and seventh weekly flight to Las Vegas. I’m sure many would like to see restoration of flights to Orlando-Sanford as well. Time will tell what will happen.
