Among the feeble attempts at humorous sloganeering from today’s Journal Star editorial:

Peoria: Where we love our train tracks, even with no trains on them.

Obviously, a swipe at preserving the Kellar Branch. I don’t have to remind you that this same editorial (along with the Peoria Park District, trail groups and the Peoria City Council) advocated the closure of this line for at least 11 years. This is no different than advocating the destruction of an old, ten-story high-rise to make way for a park only to watch the effort fail after more than a decade, and then wonder why the building has no occupants!

The pro-trail JS editorial board is still bitter more than a year after the Surf Board’s correct ruling which restored service.
