
These classic former passenger locomotives will substitute for reindeer on December 13.
The Keokuk Junction Railway (dba Peoria & Western Railway) will be operating a Santa Train on Saturday, December 13. The train will run from Mapleton to Cuba. The train’s tentative schedule can be found here.

I remember seeing a train magizine one time. it was either in the late 70s or early 80s. the magizine article was about these engines “f” units i believe they are called. it talked about the units still in operation. there were very few still running. it listed every raiway in the country who still used them.
they were almost like endangered species. the magizine implied that seeing these was like seeing a classic car from the 50s on the highway.

That would have been the July 1978 issue of TRAINS. They did a article in the May 2008 issue which featured tourist trains powered by so-called ‘covered wagon” units, like E and F units.
