All is quiet on the Kellar Branch front. I thought the City of Peoria and Village of Peoria Heights were supposed to obtain T. Y. Lin’s engineering and feasibility study for a joint-use railroad and recreational trail right of way last August. It’s October now and I haven’t heard a thing. Perhaps there’s a delay? Perhaps the results of the study were not good and the Cities are keeping it under the covers, desiring not to return to an old controversy?

Also, didn’t Peoria Heights mayor Mark Allen threaten to evict, though without any legal authority to do so, the Pioneer Industrial Railway off the two-mile section of track which passes through his village if something were not done about a drainage and erosion problem? The deadline for the Village’s action came and went on June 3.

Anyone know what’s going on?

I think everyone is busy setting up “way-stations” for all of the new business just ready to pop along the rail… don’t you think?
