The first ever Peoria Railfair is being held 10:00am to 5:00pm both Saturday and Sunday. Admission is FREE so come out to Barrick’s Cater Inn on Pioneer Parkway and join in this historic event!
Above are two equipment displays courtesy of the Pioneer Industrial Railway and the Toledo Peoria & Western Railway. There will be one and possibly two speeders (small vehicles used for recreational use of standard gauge railroad lines). There will also be a mini swap meet, facing painting for kids and informational brochures from the Genesee & Wyoming Inc., parent of two local shortlines – Illinois & Midland and Tazewell & Peoria, and other items.
This event is brought to you by the Illinois Prairie Railroad Foundation. Special thanks to Sharon Deckard for organizing the event. Special thanks also go to the crew of the Pioneer Industrial Railway for hauling the equipment to the display site. I’d would also like to offer thanks to Paul Crawford, general manager of the Toledo Peoria & Western and Dale Montgomery, marketing manager of the Illinois & Midland and Tazewell & Peoria for their services in providing equipment and transportation services for the fair.

I’m planning to be at the railfair both days. I should be there most of the day but Saturday morning might be best.
